Governor Brown Announces Oregon Schools Closures

Oregon Schools Closed For Remainder of 2019-2020 School Year

Oregon’s Governor Kate Brown announced Wednesday that Oregon school closures will be extended through the rest of the academic year as the state continues to battle the spread of coronavirus. The closure will impact in-person classes for public and private schools.

Oregon is scheduled to switch to a “Distance Learning For All” plan, with a deadline of April 13 to get every student on a digital lesson plan.

All seniors who were on track to graduate prior to classes being canceled, including having passing grades in all courses required for graduation, will receive passing grades and earn a diploma.

Seniors who did not have passing grades can work with schools to improve their grades, the governor said.
